Doug Bedard, MBA, is a Senior Vice President and Director at MNP Corporate Finance Inc. in Calgary and a member of the Board of Directors of the Exempt Market Dealers Association of Canada. Specializing in debt and equity services, he assists clients with capital markets transactions and provides customized financing and business plan advice.
Doug has more than 15 years of experience in the financial sector, advising clients in a diverse range of industries including oil and gas, forestry, financial institutions, health services, and aboriginal business. Working collaboratively with clients to find the best financial solutions, Doug has assisted with debt structuring, raising private equity, and arranging financing from private and institutional sources, as well as from multiple government and international sources. He is particularly skilled at managing complex engagements that require significant due diligence and involve stakeholders in the public and private sector.

as an audit partner and business advisor for publicly traded and
regulated financial services companies in the mid-market, specializing
with Exempt Market Dealers, IIROC Investment Dealers, Mutual Fund
Dealers, FINRA regulated broker dealers, investment fund/asset fund
managers, private equity and alternative investment funds. His has deep
experience with the financial services, energy, mining and technology
sectors serving mid-market clients operating across Canada and globally.
Stephen prides himself on understanding his client’s business and
industry in order to provide each with high quality service.
Relationships connect and define his actions, keeping Steve and his team
focused on what matters most - helping people achieve their goals, one
handshake and smile at a time.
He serves as a Director, Audit
Committee Chair and Compensation Committee member of a TSX listed
financial services company operating in Canada and the US. Stephen
was with KPMG Canada for over 25 years including 18 years as an audit
partner in the Toronto office where he was National Director of KPMG’s
Investment Dealer Practice for seven years. He is the only non-Big 4
accounting firm member of IIROC’s Panel Auditor Committee. He is the
course co-leader for the CICA’s In-Depth Brokers & Investment
Dealers Program and the EMDA’s CFO Education Series: Financial
Regulatory Reporting Certificate Program. In addition, Stephen has
published many articles and been a conference speaker on financial and
tax matters impacting dealers. Since 1996, he has been a member of the
Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association Legal &
Compliance Division. Outside of MNP, Steve has served on boards and
committees for many community and charitable organizations. He is a
Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Consultant and received his
Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.

Sean Du Plessis, CA, is a Partner with MNP and leads the firm’s
International Financing Reporting Standards (IFRS) group in Calgary. With more than 13 years of experience in both industry and public
practice, Sean has led IFRS conversions for numerous companies in a
variety of industries, helping them manage the process as efficiently as
possible. Sean delivers a range of services that include: preliminary
impact assessments, detailed evaluations and assistance with
implementing strategies. He has facilitated internal IFRS training
sessions and has delivered IFRS training for the Canadian Institute of
Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario
and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.
