Announcement - New EMDA Vice Chair and EMDA Director

The Exempt Market Dealers Association of Canada is proud to announce the appointment of a new EMDA Vice Chair, David Gilkes - and new EMDA Director, Doug Bedard.

David Gilkes has assumed the role of Vice Chair of the EMDA`s national Board of Directors and will join the EMDA Executive Committee. As Vice Chair, David will help lead a number of strategic issues including continued growth of the EMDA across Canada, and strengthening its voice on behalf of the exempt market regionally and nationally to securities regulators, government agencies, other industry associations and the capital markets. David is the President of North Star Compliance & Regulatory Solutions Inc. and has served on the EMDA Board of Directors for 3 years. David has over 25 years of experience in regulation of industry and capital markets, including seven years as Manager, Registrant Regulation, with the Ontario Securities Commission where he oversaw the registration and conduct of more than 60,000 individuals and firms in Canada’s largest capital market.

Doug Bedard has joined the EMDA Board of Directors representing MNP Corporate Finance Inc. in Calgary where he is a Senior Vice President and Director. Doug has more than 15 years of experience in the financial sector, advising clients in a diverse range of industries including oil and gas, forestry, financial institutions, health services, and aboriginal businesses in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.
